Here's a quick review of the Brother P-touch CUBE Plus (paid link) Label Maker ! I was excited to expand my labeling capabilities. This one offers tape widths up to 24 mm (about an inch) whereas my previous one only went up to 12mm (about 1/2 inch). It is a printer that works via bluetooth from an app on your phone. This allows for greater customization with different fonts and images.
Think of the label maker as just a printer. It does auto-cut but you can change the settings to chain print if you are looking to save on tape. Two tape cartridges are included: Black on Glitter Gold and traditional Black on White. I recommend getting additional cartridges (paid link) that have clear backgrounds. There is a bit of a learning curve, but if you've had a traditional label maker before, it should be pretty straightforward.
Here you can see I've labeled my label maker with my name and business name. I was able to fit three lines of text quite clearly. The White on Black Tape is similar to a chalkboard look, though it does have a shine to it since it is laminated, which is nice for longevity of the label. Also, it has a lithium-ion battery so I expect that to hold up nicely with the accompanying charger cord.
